Message from the Chairman of the Board

June 2024
Message from the Chair

Hard to believe it is June already! Soon our children will be out of school and summer will be upon us. Thankfully our website is getting back up to speed after being destroyed by hackers. Within the next week or so it should be back to 100% operational. Thank you all for your patience in helping us to get this matter resolved!

The Santa Rosa Economic Development Council is offering small businesses in Santa Rosa County StRIVE grants up to $10,000. This money can be used for exterior improvements such as facades, painting, lighting, signage, windows, parking lots, screening, fencing, awnings, and much more. Applications are open from May 1st through July 2024. There will be another round of this grant money available in October 2024. If your business is interested, please contact Ms. Bridgette Price with Santa Rosa Economic Development Office at The application can be downloaded at

Our Military Appreciation Picnic was held on May 17th. The day was a roaring success, even though we had what seems to be the mandatory annual spring shower. Special Thank You!! to Tracy Allen, Jim Ponek and all the Chamber volunteers that make this event possible.

For all of our new members as well as long time members, please make plans to attend Member Orientation held in the McKenzie room at the Chamber office on June 18th at 2:30 pm. The information in this seminar is critical to your business in taking full advantage of your Chamber Membership.

Networking events for the month of June are as follows: Business After Hours will be at Ace’s Hangar on June 4th at 5 pm, sponsored by Team Bruce Baker, MBA-RE/MAX Infinity. The Networking Lunch will be held at Ace’s Hangar on June 14th at noon, sponsored by EcoView Windows & Doors. The A.M. Network will be held on May 31st at The Cutting Board, sponsored by Synovus Bank. Please make plans to attend as many of these events as you possibly can.

As many of you know, our largest “friendraising” event is coming up on us fast: July 4th Riverfest is one of our premier events of the year. We will need volunteers to staff the Beer Tent as well as two Pepsi beverage trailers. We will have an RV on site for volunteers to cool off, rest, have a drink and a snack. There will be the usual car show, motorcycle show, concessions, arts, crafts, and other retail vendors, and fireworks in the evening. Please contact Jaime at the Chamber office if you are available to volunteer. It is a lot of fun!

As most all of you locals know, June is the beginning of Hurricane Season. BE PREPARED!

The first 72 is on you. Be sure you have plenty of fresh water, gasoline, and non-perishable food. Make sure your generator is in good working condition and you have plenty of fuel and oil for it. Locate it in an area where the fumes from the exhaust will not have a chance to enter your home or anyone else’s. Have valuables and important documents prepared to evacuate if necessary. Hopefully we will be lucky and miss all the storms this year, but it is best to be prepared. Comprehensive preparedness guides can be obtained from Santa Rosa Emergency Management.

Welcome to all of our new members and thank you to all of our Ambassadors, Sponsors, Committee members and Board Members! I am looking forward to a wonderful Gulf Coast Summer and hope to see you all at our upcoming events.

2024 Chairman of the Board
