Biking/Hiking/Walking
In the Blackwater River State Forest, you will find trails for everybody from beginner to experienced hiker/mountain biker.
If you prefer a paved surface, try the Blackwater Heritage Trail. This 8.5-mile paved trail winds through the town of Milton and ends at Naval Air Station Whiting Field. It is available for biking, running, walking, roller-skating, and horseback riding. Other popular activities are picnicking and birdwatching. Motorized vehicles are not permitted on the trail.
Camping
Santa Rosa County offers everything from wilderness camps and naturist resorts to cabin rentals to full-service campgrounds with RV hook-ups.
Canoeing/Kayaking/Tubing
Welcome to the canoe capital of Florida! In Santa Rosa County, you have the opportunity to experience canoeing, kayaking, or tubing unlike anywhere else. Our spring-fed rivers flow at an average depth of two feet over a soft, sandy bottom through the Blackwater River State Forest. White sand beaches dot the banks – perfect for swimming, sunning and picnicking.
