Santa Rosa County’s rich history provides an excellent environment for the enjoyment of arts and culture. Residents enjoy food, music and visual arts of many cultures through a variety of festivals and performances throughout the year.
The Imogene Theatre in downtown Milton, was restored to its 1912 glamour by the Santa Rosa Historical Society and offers live music, on-stage entertainment, dinner theaters and other events. If you’re in the mood for stage theater, try the Santa Rosa Community Theatre.
Florida’s first industrial complex, the Arcadia Mill, features a museum and a walking tour describing its history.
The L&N Train Depot, built in 1909, now includes a wonderful Museum of Railroading History with authentic rail cars and a Bridge Tendor’s house.
Visitors and residents alike enjoy visits through the historic village of Bagdad, home of beautifully renovated pre-Civil War-era homes, including the Thompson House, which still displays the writings of soldiers who camped there in October 1864.
Santa Rosa County is host to many festivals and events throughout the year including Bands on the Blackwater, Beaches to Woodlands, “Boo at the Zoo”, Christmas in the Park in Navarre, Flea Across Florida, Ghosts of Milton Walking Tour, Gulf Breeze Family Expo, “Light Up Milton” Gallery Night, July 4th Riverfest, Milton Christmas Parade, “Monarch Madness” in Navarre, Navarre Beach Sand Sculpting Festival, Riverwalk Arts Festival, Santa Rosa County Fair, Scratch Ankle, “Thursdays in the Park” summer concert series in Navarre, Zoo Lights, and many others – celebrating the large variety of resources and interests here in our area.
